Gene expression changes in kidneys of patients with CKD

Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is a common fibrotic disorder, which is defined by sustained reduction of kidney function, measured as glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) and characterized by tubular fibrogenesis.

Here we used microdissected human kidney samples from 95 patients. Subject clinical characteristics are shown in right. Transcript levels were analyzed using Affymetrix U133A arrays.

Further, we analyzed the correlation of genes with kidney function (eGFR) at the time of collection or kidney fibrosis, using a linear regression model with covariates including age, gender, race and diabetes and hypertension status.
